Our Lady of Lourdes Youth Ministry is once again answering the call to serve with love and compassion through its semi-annual Midnight Run on Thursday, August 7th. This impactful outreach effort brings together teens, adult volunteers, and generous donors to provide food, clothing, and dignity to the homeless community of New York City.
What Is Midnight Run?
Midnight Run is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing basic necessities—like food, toiletries, and clothing—to the homeless living on the streets of Manhattan. But it’s more than just a delivery of supplies. It’s a mission of connection and care. Volunteers meet and interact with those in need, offering a moment of kindness, conversation, and human connection in the heart of the city.
Details of the Run
Volunteers will gather at 7:30 PM on August 7th, then head into Manhattan in a six-van caravan. At four designated stops, they will distribute donations and share God's love through their presence and support.
Youth Participation
Teens entering grades 9–12 are encouraged to take part in this powerful night of service. However, space is limited. Interested teens must sign up immediately by calling 516-241-1896 and must also attend at least one of the preparation nights:
Sunday, August 3rd: 8:00–10:00 PM in the Church Hall
Wednesday, August 6th: 4:00–6:00 PM in the Church Hall
Items Needed – How You Can Help
Even if you can't participate in person, there’s a way for everyone in the parish community to get involved. Donations are urgently needed to make this mission a success. Items especially in demand include:
Men’s jeans (waist sizes 32, 34, 36, 38)
Men’s and women’s sneakers
Backpacks
Men’s t-shirts & collared golf shirts
Hoodies
New underwear
Travel-size toiletries
Drop-off donations in the Church Hall on the weekend of August 2nd and 3rd.
Your generosity will directly help our youth minister to the homeless—and help remind those on the margins that they are seen, cared for, and loved.
